Although women pirates were not that common, some did exist. Women were really not welcome in a pirate ship.
All the famous pirates has their own Code of Conduct which was agreed upon between the Captain and crews. No woman or boy was to be allowed amongst them. However, women still managed to overcome this by cross-dressing.
